Songs to Request on the Radio
WE ALL WANT TO HEAR MORE EVA ON THE RADIO! But which songs should you request? Lynlea of Hot Records tells me that in October 2001 they launched a new "radio edit" CD of Eva's music. She says, "'What A Wonderful World' is the lead track and the 4-tracker is titled Radio Edits - including 'Fields of Gold,' 'People Get Ready,' and 'Over The Rainbow.' It's not for sale but targeted at radio from Australia to Germany, UK, Norway & all. They are all available on various singles - but the intention here is to have the definitive radio-promo tool. People just have to get on those phones and ring their fave radio stations to hear it." I am very excited that "What A Wonderful World" will be receiving more airplay, in these troubled times. Lynlea agrees : "We almost didn't run with it due to the WTC/terrorist activities - however it's so beautiful we think it's okay to offer people 3 minutes of beauty in the face of all the ugliness that's going on. Hoping it'll be another introduction for new people to the greatness of Eva." Also, some stations (including the BBC) may have "Anniversary Song." In the United States, many radio stations have received promotional "radio edit" CDs of "Fields of Gold" and "Over the Rainbow" from Blix Street Records. Eva's music is being heard on many different radio station formats -- last year it was mostly the "folkie" programs who played Eva's recordings but things are changing.

Availability of the albums will have affected the ratings in part and many of us find it difficult to make any favored choice at all. Rather well summed up in the words of one Visitor as 'They all become one.' "
Support the hardworking musicians in your area by attending live performances. Go out to the little clubs and restaurants that offer live music, and if you like what you hear, tell the performers! Clap long and loud! And if they're selling CDs and tapes from their guitar cases, as Eva once did, support their talents and efforts that way too. As someone once wrote in the Guestbook, "There will never be another Eva Cassidy, but there will be someone else."
